Mobile telephone study arouses attention
Whether or not cell phone radiation damages your health is a question that has been debated for years. Yet a couple of weeks ago the WHO published findings on this controversial topic that are truly frightening. In the forefront was Dr. Elisabeth Cardis, the director of a 20 million Euro study on the topic of mobile telephones. Over a period of years 12,800 sick and health people in 13 countries were surveyed about their usage patterns. The result showed a clear relationship between the use of mobile telephones and the development of brain tumors. According to the study people who have used a cell phone for ten or more years have a high risk of developing a variety of brain tumors. When compared to people who rarely make telephone calls or who do not use a cell phone at all, people who make intensive use of cell phones have a 50% greater chance of developing laryngeal cancer. For people younger than 20 the risk of developing a brain tumor before their 29th birthday is actually five times higher.
